This weekend is Mexican Independence weekend! It also happens to be the weekend that my housemate and I are responsible for making plans for the group. Last night featured the Rumba Café Salsa bar where we got in without having to pay the cover because we were students. Well…that’s what they told us.
Salsa, you ask? Well as a matter of fact, we have been making great strides in our Clase de Baile on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the week. Our teacher, Venezuelan dancing master Ricardo, always plays this one song called Yo No Sé Mañana which is extremely catchy. (Listen to it here) One day after class, we found the song on YouTube and ended up listening to it many, many times in a row. I stopped after about ten times because I had to go to class but I know the marathon was continued after school. As these things tend to go, Yo No Sé Mañana became a theme song. How is this relevant? While we were waiting for the dance floor to open at Rumba Café, the bouncer told us that he would signal when we were allowed to dance. That signal? The first few measures of Yo No Sé Mañana. In less than 30 seconds we were out of our chairs and on the dance floor practicing our salsa skills.
There will definitely be a return trip. Did I mention management bought us free drinks? There were free drinks and I was asked to dance several times. There will absolutely be a return trip.
